Norah Yahya is a Legislative Financial Analyst in the Finance Division for the New York City Council. In this position Norah’s portfolio includes the Administration for Children’s Services, the Department of Cultural Affairs and all three library systems throughout New York City. Prior to joining the City Council, Norah worked as a Policy Analyst for United Neighborhood Houses where she was able to organize communities, lobby elected officials and manage campaigns all in an effort to fight for low-income families’ access to child care and youth programs. Norah’s affiliation with NYNY began as a career coach and she saw the impact NYNY could have had on her life had she had the opportunity; shortly after she joined the Young Leadership Board.
Norah earned her Masters in Urban Education Policy from Brown University and earned her BA from Duke University where she studied Public Policy. Ms. Yahya is a strong advocate for youth and young women in particular. She has spoken at empowerment seminars and strongly believes in the mission of NYNY and creating equity and access for all youth who wish to pursue a brighter future.
