Jeff Lewis (Development Coordinator)
Jeff Lewis is Development Coordinator at New York Needs You.
Jeff Graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a B.A. in Communication Arts and minors in Photography, Graphic Design and Gender and Sexuality Studies. His work in non-profit development began in Chicago with Young Chicago Authors, an organization that encourages self-expression and literacy among Chicago's youth through writing and performance. There, he worked to establish the Youth Advisory Council. In 2008, Jeff was awarded the Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship, a competitive award for promising and talented undergraduates that provides paid internships for three consecutive summers. As a Watson Fellow, he interned with The Central Park Conservancy, the organization that manages and maintains Central park; The Studio Museum in Harlem, the international nexus for artists of African descent and for work that has been inspired and influenced by black culture; and Cooperkatz and Company Public Relations, an independent, full-service marketing/public relations firm with strong strategic, creative and social media credentials.
Prior to joining New York Needs You, Jeff worked in South America as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator for VE-Global, an organization that recruits and trains international volunteers to implement educational programs and act as positive role models for at-risk children in Santiago, Chile.
In the future, Jeff plans to attend graduate school and pursue a Masters in Media Studies, to investigate how new forms of media can spark social awareness, change and responsibility.
