Teach For America wins NYNY’s 2013 BOLD Award!
NYNY is proud to announce that Teach For America (TFA) has been awarded NYNY’s 2013 BOLD Award; an annual award given to a nonprofit that has gone above and beyond for NYNY. BOLD stands for Bridging Opportunities, Leveraging Dreams.
In 2013, TFA collaborated with NYNY on a variety of initiatives to support our Fellows and strengthen our partnership. TFA works to help end educational inequity by developing a national corps of outstanding recent college graduates and professionals to teach for two years in urban and rural low-income communities and become lifelong leaders in expanding educational opportunity. This year, three NYNY Fellow Alumni were selected to join this prestigious group. TFA also worked closely with NYNY to create and share internship opportunities and provided seven NYNY Fellows with meaningful internships in departments across the organization. In addition, TFA invited a group of Fellows to their offices for an informative look into the operation of a major, national nonprofit. TFA also invited NYNY staff to participate in a series of roundtable discussions with other nonprofits to learn from each other and connect on ways to partner in the future. TFA staff members continue to impact NYNY and NJNY Fellows as Mentor Coaches, with Adam Adebisi, Tracy Dunbar, Jerome Joseph, Brigid Sullivan, and Hillary Wool joining the 2013 Class. Hillary, also a 2011 Mentor Coach, facilitated a leadership development seminar at a November NYNY workshop.
We thank TFA for their partnership this year and look forward to continuing our combined efforts to impact the lives of youth around the country!
