I am a proud Albanian who came to America for the opportunity to become my best self through education and hard work. The transition taught me motivation, responsibility, flexibility, and I learned to become adaptable to diversity and connecting with people of other cultures. My biggest lesson as a first generation student has been responsibility. At a young age, I became responsible for my household, younger brother, and my future.
As a rising sophomore at Baruch College, I have chosen to major in Finance Investments, while having a double minor in Political Science and Economics, because these areas are what I am truly passionate about. As a young child in Albania I have seen the effects of poverty and economic hardships, but it is through this experience that I feel motivated to make a difference and help others.
My greatest accomplishment in my college career is being elected as Human Resources Manager of the honor society Sigma Alpha Delta. Sigma Alpha Delta is the largest honor society at Baruch, and I am proud to help govern the 500 members of this organization. I’ve gained the confidence to speak in front of people, particularly when I gained the trust of the 80 people at the election.
I hope to go into financial services and learn as much as possible about all the fields involved. I believe that finance complements my personality because I love competition and am an achiever who likes to be challenged every day. Even though I feel certain of my career path, I believe NYNY will broaden my knowledge about all the opportunities that lie ahead of me. NYNY provides me with the opportunity to follow my dream by giving me the guidance that I need.
