College: Lehman College
I live in Washington Heights in Upper Manhattan New York, but I was born in the Dominican Republic. My parents have always pushed me to become successful and better myself.. Watching a lot of the hardships that my community goes through daily really pushes me to do better with my life and then give back to my community. My mom has had the biggest impact on me. She has always pushed me to do my best despite not being the best. She has always been a very positive role model in my life and now that I’m getting older she has been someone that I can go and talk to about anything. For the past 7 years, I have also had the privilege to learn how to play an instrument and excel. Playing the trombone has taught me how to be independent and also how to look out for myself and learn without others.
Currently, I am majoring in Psychology at Lehman College (to minor in Education. After Lehman, I plan to pursue a MA in Psychology. My career goal is to become a high school guidance counselor I want to be the person that students can discuss their issues and confide in. My time in high school was a time where I changed a lot when it comes to my personality and how I looked at life. I was fortunate to have friends that had my back when I needed people to help me feel better and support me. I find that having people to help you out in life can make anything easy. After working as a guidance counselor, I want to acquire a PhD .
