Born in New York and raised in Mississippi, I am the eldest son of Chinese immigrants. Naturally, my family has been challenged with many barriers. Growing up to see my family struggle and overcome cultural and financial difficulties allowed me to mature at a young age. I am grateful to have experienced these obstacles as they have enabled me to appreciate the value of perseverance and conviction in work and life.
I am a psychology major with a concentration in behavioral neuroscience at the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College. In pursuit of my interests, I am a research assistant in an electric fish lab at Hunter College where neuropsychological tests are used to research learning and memory and endocrinology on a biological level. I am also a teacher at Grace Faith Church. After College, I would like to teach neuroscience and psychology courses as an adjunct professor while attending graduate school to earn a PhD in neuropsychology. My future aspiration is to be a research professor of neuropsychology in a research institution with primary interests in learning and memory.
New York Needs You provides me with countless opportunities to build my network and learn from peers and mentors with similar interests. I believe that NYNY prepares me to succeed professionally in my future aspirations as well as personally in character.
