I was born in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia, in 1991. Growing up there I experienced tough times, such as studying for school by candle light because there was no electricity, but experiences like these taught me how to overcome unpleasant conditions. My family has always supported education and urged me to excel in school so I could have a successful future. My family’s victory in a Green Card lottery opened new opportunities for my sister, my family and myself. Upon migrating to New York City in 2006 with my parents and younger sister, I was the only person in my family who was proficient in English. Therefore, I took over some responsibilities that shaped me into a more mature and responsible individual than others of my age.
I graduated from Queensborough Community College as an outstanding student and currently I am continuing my education at Baruch College where I am majoring in accounting and minoring in political science. I have already interned at a private accounting office where I further extended my knowledge in business operations and accounting. In the near future, I expect to finish my baccalaureate degree and attend the law school. My role as a lawyer in Mock Trial team has assured me that my aspiration of being a lawyer is indeed an occupation I will enjoy. After graduating from the law school and gaining professional experience, I expect to go back to my country, Georgia, and hope to help people there with my knowledge and experience.
