My parents immigrated to America in the hope of providing my brothers and myself with better opportunities than they had. We came to this country when I was seven, with no knowledge of the culture or the language. I attended after-school classes in addition to my regular classes, in an effort to learn English from a computer program. With help from my teachers and the language software, I became fluent in English in about six months. During my time in elementary school, I became fascinated with computers, and with the multiple tasks they can perform. I was never able to explore this field thoroughly, until college.
I am enrolled at Manhattanville College, majoring in Computer Science. However, I look forward to exploring and learning about the different areas available within this field. I believe technology is an effective and fast way to learn anything. Technology has helped improve my language skills and has brought the world to the tip of my fingers. Due to technology, I can receive alerts about every kind of disaster on my phone. I can use technology to study for my exams, to apply for jobs, to plan trips, and much more. Technology keeps me informed and aware and I would like to be part of this revolution so I can help others around the world develop their own technological skillset.
