Vincent Roddy, MD
Originally from Northern Virginia, Dr. Roddy was exposed to a variety of cultures and viewpoints as a child. At a young age he was drawn to a career in medicine after realizing that regardless of cultural background or socioeconomic status, all people have the right to good health. Currently Dr. Roddy is a medical resident in the Mount Sinai Department of Emergency Medicine. Although relatively new to New York City, Dr. Roddy has been quite active as both a physician as well in his numerous extracurricular activities. In addition to being a Mentor Coach and Young Leadership Board Member with NYNY, Dr. Roddy also serves on the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Admissions Committee, reviewing applications and interviewing candidates for admission. Dr. Roddy is also a member of the Mount Sinai Emergency Department, Customer Service and Wellness Committee.
Dr. Roddy attended medical school in his home state at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. He has a strong interest in health reform policy and physician advocacy. Dr. Roddy believes that it is the physician's responsibility to be educated on issues relevant to health care reform and to subsequently advocate on behalf of their patients and profession. While in medical school Dr. Roddy served as President of his class. He oversaw all class fundraising, programming, and philanthropic endeavors. Additionally, Dr. Roddy traveled to both Honduras and South Africa where he helped provide medical care to those living in rural, indigent areas.
Dr. Roddy is a graduate of Duke University, where he earned a B.A. in Economics while fulfilling his pre-med requirements. He is an avid Duke Basketball fan and the younger of two siblings.
