Travis Ousley

Travis Ousley

Travis Ousley serves as strategic consultant to the recruitment team at Teach For America, a national nonprofit that aims to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting the nation's most promising future leaders to teach for two or more years in low-income communities throughout the United States. In addition to teaching 8th grade humanities in the Bronx for four years through the program, Travis has also served as Director of Communications for the organization’s summer training program in New York where he has facilitated the training of over 2,000 new teachers.

As the youngest of four children, Travis was the first in his family to attend and graduate from college. In 2006, he graduated from Ohio University with a dual degree in organizational communications and integrated language arts education. Travis has a deep interest in education reform and an intense commitment to low-income communities rooted in his upbringing in rural Southeast Ohio and galvanized by his experience teaching in New York City.
