Pierina Sanchez
Pierina Sanchez serves as the Director of Press and Legislation for New York City Council Member Fernando Cabrera. In this capacity, she manages media relations and crafts and edits citywide legislation. Prior to this role, Pierina served as Director of Constituent Services and Budget Affairs where she played a vital role in ensuring efficient city service delivery to zip-codes among the neediest in the country. She oversaw the progress of 1400 constituent cases and facilitated the allocation and procurement of $7.7M in grants to district schools, public housing complexes, police precincts and nonprofits.
Pierina serves on the Board of Directors at Union Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center look-alike in the Bronx that serves 25,000 patients each year; she also serves on the New York area committee at the Harvard Center for Public Interest Careers, an organization that engages Harvard undergraduates and recent graduates in expanding awareness and exploration of careers in public service. A Bronx native of Dominican descent and first-generation college graduate, Pierina holds a BA from Harvard University.
