Matthew Schwieger
Matthew Schwieger is Development Manager at New York Needs You. Previously, Matthew served as Development Associate at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). His work at the NAACP focused on articulating the mission and advocacy priorities of the century old organization to prospective funders, particularly foundations. These organization wide efforts have enabled new and existing program areas to orient their frameworks around a 21st century civil rights agenda.
A native of Waterloo, Iowa, Matthew graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in Sociology and Honors in Education. While at Stanford, he was a member of Building a Better Legal Profession and wrote a chapter about pro-bono legal services for Building a Better Legal Profession’s Guide to Law Firms (Kaplan 2009). Matthew is currently a Co-President of Cardinal Young Alumni of New York City and a member of the National Advisory Board of The College Board’s annual conference “A Dream Deferred: The Future of African American Education.”
