Samantha

My name is Samantha Guzman. I am from Harlem, NY and attend CUNY New York City College of Technology, where I study Advertising Design. I have created my own online t-shirt company, which I am very proud of.  I am doing my best to expand it. My professional, longer term goal is to own my own art gallery/center for teens. I have dreamed of this since I was young, and while I am the first in my family to attend college, they all support my dreams. I am known to be a very outgoing, friendly, colorful person. My personality is reflected in my design work. I stand out very much from my friends.

I have always loved to create art. Art is the greatest form of expression. You don’t need words, and whatever you depict is not right or wrong, it is you. Although my passion was there, there weren’t many programs or centers I could go to in my neighborhood that focused on art.  This is why I am so motivated to create this center/gallery, to showcase the talent of other teen artists.

NYNY tremendously enhances my motivation and ambitions. Being surrounded by others who are in similar situations and those who are willing to support us is truly amazing. I have met inspiring people who are doing what they love and enjoy.  Meeting people who where once in my position has reassured me that I will without a doubt be successful one day.
