Raza
My name is Raza I was born in Lahore, Pakistan. I immigrated to United States of America at the age of three and grew up in a small neighborhood called Bensonhursts in Brooklyn, New York. As of now I reside in Staten Island, New York. My family consists of my parents and three siblings. I have two older sisters and one younger brother. My family means the world to me because they help me and support me in everything I do and have always been there for me in every step of my life.
As of now I am a rising sophomore at the College of Staten Island and I'm pursuing a double major of Psychology and Nursing. These fields attract me because of my passion for helping people and my interest in human behavior. It will help me change peoples lives positively and make a difference in my community. My favorite college course during my freshmen year of college was philosophy. I enjoyed this subject because it helped me understand how different societies work and what may be acceptable in one society may not be accepted in another. I learned that moral conduct varies through different parts of the world and is drastically impacted by culture and religion.
I have many goals planned out for my future and I plan on accomplishing every single one of them. One of my goals is to study abroad for a semester during my four-year course of college. After I graduate in 2014 with my bachelors degrees in Psychology and Nursing I plan on working as a registered nurse in a psychiatric institution and getting some experience in the field by working with mentally ill patients. After working as a nurse for some time and settling down in life I plan on working towards my career goal of becoming a psychiatrist. I plan going back to school to complete my pre-requisites for medical school and take my M-Cats to apply for medical school. I believe my experience as a nurse will place me in advantage to other medical school students because of my clinical knowledge. I plan on to achieving my career goals and I believe NYNY will play an imperative roll in doing so. I plan on obtaining a professional network from NYNY through my peers and mentor coaches that will provide me with helpful advice through their superior knowledge to bring about my true potential to succeed in life.
