I have seen enough heartache to know that life goes on no matter what. Growing up, both of my parents were sick. My mother had stage four breast cancer and my father suffered from type 2 diabetes. Every day I saw them fight to try and live normal lives, and their illnesses showed me that nothing is impossible. I learned that the key to getting through any ordeal is to have a strong will and to constantly remind myself that things will get better. Seeing my parents struggle has helped mold me into who I am today. Because of their illnesses, I feel a constant need to always stay positive and never succumb to the problems that surround my everyday life. Through my college experience and beyond, it is important to me to make the most out of life by living every day likes it is the last.
To me, being a Fellow means committing myself to my future and keeping an open mind to the professions and opportunities that await me. Being a Fellow means challenging the old version of myself to become a new, better, and more prepared me. Being a Fellow means growing up and realizing that there is a world outside of my life as it is now. Being a Fellow means investing time in my future so that when the opportunity arises, I will have the tools necessary to have a successful career.
