Jessica
I am currently a rising sophomore at John Jay College of Criminal Justice where I am majoring in Criminology and minoring in English. After graduating John Jay College, I plan to attend law school where I wish to obtain my J.D as well as my PH.D in Linguistics. Professionally speaking, I want to apply to be a special agent at the FBI, and my ultimate goal is to be placed in their National Center for Analysis of Violent Crime Unit. This unit specializes in homicides, serial rapes, and child abduction cases, and while this may seem like a harsh career choice, I feel that nothing would make me happier than knowing that I am working to bring peace and justice to victims of horrible crimes. It is something I feel passionate about, and it is a place where I feel I can really be a part of something.
Being an NYNY Fellow has been an extremely valuable experience so far. It has helped me meet new and ambitious people like myself who are striving to achieve their highest potential. It has also introduced me to Mentor-Coaches and volunteers who help me build my skill set, and I can now confidently introduce myself to professionals who can help me attain both my academic and career goals. I am fortunate enough to have a Mentor who has a similar career to my own desired profession and who went to the same law school I would like to attend, and she has already inspired me with all that I know I can learn from her in the future.
