Jeffrey
Jeffrey is the product of Haitian, Dominican, and African-American heritage and was born and raised in the amazing borough of Brooklyn, New York. Even though Jeffrey’s mother, a strong single-parent of two, had only limited college experience, she always instilled in him the importance of a good education as a means to personal, professional and financial freedom. Given her values and lessons, it is no surprise that Jeffrey made attending college a goal at a very early age. Today, Jeffrey is proudly enrolled as a rising sophomore at Baruch College in New York City where he is focusing on courses in human resource management, economics, and law and public policy.
Jeffrey’s genuine passion for both helping and working alongside others has attracted him to social organizations such as the Urban Male Leadership Academy (UMLA) and Phi Eta Sigma’s Honor Society at Baruch College in addition to New York Needs You, of course. In the long-term, Jeffrey would like to work with or establish an organization that specializes in promoting human capital development and training within disadvantaged communities. He believes that disadvantaged communities can greatly benefit from programs that teach the core competencies which are needed to excel in a competitive and skilled workforce. Jeffrey is very grateful for the personal growth that the NYNY Fellowship experience will facilitate, and he is excited about the professional training and relationship-building opportunities that the experience will promise. He is eager to leverage his ambition, passion and experiences to contribute to the rich cultural fabric that New York Needs You has built.
