Evelyn

I was raised by my mom and dad who immigrated to Santa Ana, CA from Mexico, looking to fulfill their American dreams. They wanted to find jobs that would allow them to pay their taxes and to assist with their parents' medical bills. After permanently settling in the United States, they found it was nearly impossible to find better jobs and to improve their quality of life without higher education. However, they recognized that as a citizen, I had a myriad of opportunities before me and they prepared me to seize them.

Leaving California to attend Barnard College has been a journey of personal growth. As a freshman, I entered college with the intent to major in political science and attend law school. Once I took an Introduction to Economics course and was exposed to the fundamental economic models, my interest in the subject flourished into my passion. Looking forward, I intend to continue an upward trajectory. In two years I will graduate from Barnard, with a strengthened academic record and a high GMAT score. I will be prepared to start working for a company where I hope that my passion for finance, entrepreneurial drive and skills will lead me to excel. In five years, I hope to have earned my MBA from an elite institution and have a job offer as an Associate. As I continue to grow as a professional, I will always maintain my innate desire to be intellectually challenged and apply my devoted work ethic to differentiate myself among my peers. As I move forward, I will always remember to utilize my triumphs to empower other students as they also pursue their own aspirations.
