Charity
Charity originates from Ghana, West Africa where she spent a decade of her life before migrating to the United States. Before coming to America, she had thought about the inevitability of attending a new school, and having to make new friends. She also thought about learning to adapt to this new country's environment, and about becoming comfortable with a new way of living in a different culture. Nevertheless, she was excited to be a part of the American culture. Charity comes from a family that is deeply entrenched in the foundation of Christian living. This strong Christian upbringing has played a huge role in molding her into the young lady that she is today and who she believes she is destined to become.
Because of Charity's ambition for knowledge and education, she aspires to become a nurse practitioner and to specialize in Obstetrics. Charity has a burning desire to learn about the formation of human development, coupled with the complications that are often associated with pregnancy. She wants to learn how to prevent them and when complications do occur, know the proper ways to care for the mother and the developing fetus or infant. Charity also has a passion to educate young girls. She looks at her community and often imagines the change she could possibly bring someday to better the lives of young women who wander about daily with no purpose or goals to pursue. She has a heavy heart for the females of her generation as she continues to hear and witness the lack of education which makes them feel useless and unworthy. Charity wants to empower young girls of her generation and open their eyes to a successful life filled with a wealth of opportunities. One of the ways Charity has empowered herself has been by applying and being accepted as Fellow in the New York Needs You Program where she is learning career developing skills and building a professional network.
