Andrea
My parents moved from Chile to the United States looking for a better life. My mother worked hard her entire life to provide for our family; she has been my inspiration. Her hard work and determination has pushed me to continue studying. I am passionate about helping others and I know that as a lawyer, I can provide guidance and assistance to people in need. I currently attend Barnard College and will be majoring in Urban Studies and Latin American Studies.
My future career in law will help me focus on helping immigrants entering the United States. I have always enjoyed helping others by volunteering at schools, and helping young children with their reading and writing skills. After graduating from Barnard College, I will continue my education by going to Columbia Law School. After getting my law degree, I want to work my way up and hopefully one day open my own law firm, so that I can help out as many undocumented immigrants as possible get their citizenship. I am very fortunate to be a NYNY fellow. I know that with the right mentoring I will work my way up to my dream career. Every workshop helps me build on my communication skills, my strengths and helps me deal with real life challenges..
